Funded and run by BT in partnership with Computing at School (CAS), Barefoot was created in 2014 by British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT and the Department for Education as a one-year programme to help primary school teachers across England prepare for the changing computer science curriculum.
The content was developed by teachers for teachers and this continues today, inspiring pupils to think, learn and thrive in a digital world. At the end of 2018, barefoot had reached over 2 million children. Over 70,000 teachers are part of the Barefoot community and represent over 60% of UK primary schools.
